Rizikové investície v treťom štvrťroku
by Milota Sidorova

Podľa nedávno zverejnenej štúdie spoločnosti PriceWaterhouseCoopers a National Venture Capital Association celková suma podporených projektov predstavovala okolo 4,8 miliardy dolárov, čo bolo o sedem percent menej v porovnaní s 5,2 miliard dolárov investovanými v treťom štvrťroku 2009. Typické rizikové investície ako projekty alternatívnych energetických zdrojov, recyklácie, konzervácie a investícií do energetických zásob boli v posledné troch mesiacoch skôr nestále. . O to väčší záujem zaznamenali spolo!

Venture capitalists in 3Q.
by Milota Sidorova

Venture capitalists - people and companies invested less during 3Q. According to a recent study of PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association the total amount of startup investments summed $4.8 billion past three months that was 7 percent less comparing to $5.2 billion capital at the same time in 2009. The long term trend, if considering last year was however, increasing – for the first six months of 2010 the investments were growing except of last three months. Comparing it to 2009 amount, 2010 investments are higher – so far this year the overall amount of investments generated $16.7 billion in 2,497 startups while 2009 generated $18.! 3 billion in 2,916 startups. The investments in clean technology including alternative energy, recycling, conservation and power supply companies have been volatile past months. This year has been typical, since venture capitalists tended to support more startups in the expansions and projects in later stages of development, at least their amount was higher than in 2009. The amount of „seed stage“ projects that got funding dropped 11 percent, while companies in the early stages getting investments increased 21 percent. What does this exactly mean? Surely it is kind of resistence to invest in wholly new ideas, but there is a significant trend to invest in younger companies. And where did venture capitalists invested the most? The first and most desired field was software that got nearly $1 billion, then biotechnologies with $943.7 million. Clean technologies fell down to $625.2 million although the previous quarter it was at $1.5 billion.
